Origins of a Hymnal Art Journal Entry | Process Video

ACS_1107

Hey, friend! I am so glad you’re here! Today I’m sharing a hymnal journaling process video, including the inspiration behind it.

Typically when I journal it is Scripture driven in the sense that I have a particular verse in mind that I want to respond to creatively. In today’s video I started with a couple supplies I wanted to use. For that reason I chose to create in my hymnal today 🙂

I knew I wanted to use these beautiful florals from digital printable sets designed by Make Wells and I had a couple acrylic paint colors in mind. From there I looked to die cuts pieces from an older Illustrated Faith devotional kit, Less Hustle More Jesus.

The piece that said “my need” inspired the heart behind the entry. Last year I read an excellent book by Jen Wilkin called None Like Him, 10 Ways God is Different from Us (and why that’s a good thing). In the book there is a chapter describing God’s self-sufficient nature and as His creation, our dependence on Him.

Once I knew why I was worshipping Him, I chose the hymn I Need Thee Every Hour. I thought sharing the origin of the entry might be helpful for those who may be newer to art/bible journaling so, there you go 🙂

Head here to watch how this entry came together and to hear a bit more about the (really good!) book that prompted my journaling 🙂
