I’ve got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart…where?! Down in my heart! Where?!
Aaaaand you’re welcome because you’ll most likely have that song in your head for the next hour 😉
I’m back with another Fruit of the Spirit entry- this time, joy! I know this process video has been up on my YouTube channel for a couple of weeks now, but I hadn’t blogged it. So here we are.
I’m in 1 John 1:1-4 journaling all about joy.
“The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.” -1 John 1:2-4 (NIV)
Today I wanted to focus on the joy I’ve found when fellowshipping with my heavenly Father. It is like none other!
I wanted to try a new-to-me technique using Neocolor ii water soluble crayons on a texture stamp for a fun and colorful mixed media background. To achieve those green, yellow and pink “lines” on the background of my journaling bible entry I dipped my finger in water, ran it over the texture stamp and then colored the neo crayon on top of the wet stamp. Super simple! (you can watch the process here)
For this entry I wanted to focus on pinks, greens and a pop of yellow-all inspired by the Illustrated Faith Fruit of the Spirit line. I used the following color neocolors: purple, pink, golden yellow, yellow green and grass green.
Once I had finished the stamping I kept adding layers until I was pleased with the look. There was certainly a time when I thought “I am in the weeds!”
One of those layers was the blue dots. When I think of joy, confetti comes to mind. I colored the eraser of a brand new pencil with a Faber Castell big brush pen (in Cobalt Green) and stamped it on the page.
I then layered the Fruit of the Spirit paper pieces, some pink punctuation and card stock stickers from the 6×12 sticker sheet. And I can’t forget about that asterisk from the clear stamp set 🙂
I’ve had so much fun challenging myself to try new things and not be afraid of messing up. You can watch my process video here to learn more and see how this page in 1 John came together.
See you next time!
